Why hands-on learning matters
Early childhood learning isn't mainly about memorising information. Research in child development points to the value of back-and-forth interaction with a caring adult, of play, and of children actively doing things rather than passively watching.
Harvard's Center on the Developing Child describes responsive “serve and return” interaction between children and adults as important for early brain development, including language and social skills. The American Academy of Pediatrics has similarly highlighted the role of play — including play alongside a parent — in developing skills such as executive function.
That's the thinking behind OMG Deals. A printed worksheet isn't the point on its own. It's a reason to sit down together for fifteen minutes: your child does something with their hands, you respond to it, and the learning happens in between.
